Highway
#61 is so beautiful with the Fireweed, Bird's-foot Trefoil and Daisies.
It is truly Nature's Garden.
On
Wednesday we went to Sugar Loaf Landing which is between mile marker
#73 & #74. This is an area where historical they used to
ship logs from. They are trying to restore it to what it was
like then. They do not have a sign on the highway yet so it is a
bit tricky to find - but if you get to the Satellite Cafe you have
passed it. We went on a nice walking path that brought us
through the woods, down to the shore, through a low area, and through
a pine forest. It was a pleasant day and we had fun identifying
new plants and seeing some of our old favorites. After that we
went up the Snowmobile Parking area that is marked on the highway
that is between Cascade Park and Grand Marais.
