Memorial
Weekend 2004 -
Guest
Report by Erik Anderson
Set aside the huge amounts of
rain we received over the
weekend and we had a wonderful
time. I bailed 83
gallons of water out of the boat
from the rain before
stopping counting. Along
the shores of Lake
McFarland (entry points 83,
68, 69),
and the various trails inland
from there I spotted bush
honeysuckle, strawberry
blossoms, serviceberry
blossoms, gooseberry blossoms,
raspberry
blossoms, violets
(purple, yellow, white), wild lily of the
valley, dandelions,
marsh marigolds, and wood
anemone. The blue bead
lily's appeared to be ready to
soon bloom and the blue flag
iris were just emerging
from the ground.
A few highlights were large
patches of strawberry blossoms,
Wood Anemone,
and abundant
marsh marigolds. We
also enjoyed a large harvest of
Morels from just outside our
cabin.
