Wednesday, May 16th, 2007 - Report by

Mother's Day was spent with my three children and two of my five grandchildren. That alone makes it a special day. To add to it we hiked Oberg Mountain. We saw everything we hoped to see. The most outstanding were the fruit trees in bloom:  Juneberry & Pin Cherry. The spring ephemerals we saw were: Spring Beauty, Dutchman's-breeches, three colors of violets, Wood Anemone & Early Saxifrage. The weather was beautiful and the Ham Lake forest fire was not so scary.
Wednesday May 16, 2007: We went to "Limbo Beach - just this side of Paradise". B spotted the female flower of Sweet Gale that L could not find before. It is very small and reddish while the male is full of yellow pollen - Mystery solved!
Then to Artist Point to see the Bird's-eye Primrose on the way to the Lighthouse - not too many this year.
The day started out cold and foggy but soon changed to a beautiful sunny day - just like a Wednesday!!
