Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 - Report by

During the week we had the very special treat of seeing a very rare orchid at the mouth of one of our rivers. They were still in bud – so we will make another trip in a week or so.

Another day we hiked up the west side of Cascade River in Cascade State Park and saw about 10 of the Pink Moccasin flowers.

Many places along the roadsides are what we call “Natures Garden” – Yellow & Orange Hawkweed and White Daisies – Lupine are blooming all over the county along with the Wild Pink Roses and White Thimbleberries.

Along the way we saw a lady taking photos of a lovely spot with Pond Lilies blooming. We stopped and chatted and then she followed us to an area where there were many Iris and Twin-flowers.

Cow Parsnip are starting to bloom. The fruit trees are done and the Mountain Ash and Red-osier Dogwood are blooming now.
